Maybe the title of the album has something to do with Guinnes World Records, so we’ll make ourselves free in her manner and call it simply The Idler Wheel, but the fact is that we’re listening to the first work in seven years from the acclaimed songstress Fiona Apple, and this is a really wonderful fact. Recording of the album (co-produced by her touring drummer, Charley Drayton) began casually and quietly in 2008 and Fiona kept the recording process secret from her fans and her label. Surprisingly enough, Epic Records were unaware that she was recording an album until she handed the finished product to them: more or less like us.
